The Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) has urged holiday makers to join a travel insurance campaign during the Songkran festival which falls on 13-15 April.
The proposed travel insurance package provides compensation of up to THB100,000 (US$3,203) at a premium of THB10 for a 30-day protection period, reports Thai PBS citing OIC secretary-general Sutthipol Thaweechaikarn.
The insurance policy is being offered by four life insurance companies and 10 general insurers. The plan pays out THB100,000 for accident-related death, and THB50,000 for amputations or permanent disabilities. Those eligible for the plan have to be aged from 20 to 70 years. The large age bracket is aimed at drawing as many holiday makers as possible to buy the insurance.
